Internships

RadioIDL offers challenging internship positions in several areas. Our internships offer real world experience and active, hands-on learning. Our goal is to help interns develop skills in areas of interest and network with local artists and downtown businesses. We accept intern applications year-round, to provide students with the opportunity to learn about digital radio broadcasting.

 

Requirements:

Students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and must receive school credit – NO exceptions. Students must be 18 years. Minimum GPA of 2.0.

 

General Information:

Internships are offered year round and coincide with school semesters. Interns work approximately 20 hours/week depending on school requirements. Flexible scheduling depending on department needs. All interns must comply with internship guidelines and are subject to RadioIDL employee rules.

Downtown Traffic

As Downtown Traffic intern you will gain hands-on radio and interactive sales experience. You will also learn about promotions, continuity, observe an on-air show, and produce a commercial that will run on the radio. You will receive hands on training in the daily activities of an account executive. Successful intern candidates must be reliable, hard working, and organized.

 

Downtown Outreach

Downtown Outreach matches community focused corporations and non-profit organizations to form mutually beneficial relationships or partnerships with EAR. We work directly with our partner organizations to create public outreach campaigns that use social media vehicles to educate the public on important issues facing downtown and the Tulsa Sound. Candidate must be organized, proficient in Microsoft Office and enjoy internet research.

 

Media Encounters Digital Media

RadioIDL is a division of Media Encounters LLC, that uses digital platforms to advance our stations’ presence via the internet, texting, and social networks. RadioIDL needs a Digital Media intern to assist in management of campaign execution, develop web analytics, and help develop presentations for client pitches. The qualified individual will be dependable, hard working, and a quick learner.

 

Strategic Bold Statements Inc.

Students would work primarily with sales, marketing, and promotion departments to ensure proper execution of events for client satisfaction. This internship gives students a hands-on approach to executing small and large scale station events. Successful intern candidates must organized, hard working, reliable and punctual.

 

Music Programming Intern

The music programming intern will be in charge of updating music database information, online music submission management for RadioIDL’s online web streams and music dubbing. A successful intern candidate is hardworking, dependable, possesses initiative and has general computer knowledge and internet experience.

 

Production

Learn how in-house productions are designed and executed including voicing, writing, and dubbing commercials and promotional announcements. Interns will also learn how to ensure conformance of produced commercials with company policies and FCC regulations. Intern candidates must be creative, organized, and detail-oriented.

 

Programming/On-Air

Interns will work directly with the on-air staff and will help them set up on-air shifts including show preparation, searching the internet for the latest music news, podcasting and updating blogs. The perfect intern candidate is reliable, communicative, hardworking and entertaining.

 

Promotions

Students will assist in the creation and coordination of marketing and promotional activities at different client locations such as banner placement and handing out promotional items. Must be creative, organized and detail oriented. Must be able to interact with others in a fast-paced environment. Must be a problem solver, dependable, hard working, and creative. Hours include evenings and weekends. Interns must maintain flexible availability. Students CANNOT drive station vehicles in this position.

 

Sales Assistant

Students will learn phone etiquette, presentation skills, writing and production of radio commercials, qualitative as well as the quantitative computer software that applies to media sales. Students will also learn the importance of interaction between advertisers and the radio station. Some light filing and typing will also be required. Intern candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced office work environment. Traffic- This is all about placement of commercials on the air, it has nothing to do with automobile traffic or reporting of traffic on the air. As the traffic intern you will help compile logs (broadcast schedules) of radio commercials and public service spot announcements. Assist the department with entering and reviewing sales orders. Filing, printing reports/contracts, and general administrative support is also required. Intern candidates must be open-minded, patient, organized and detail-oriented.
